‘Islam gives leeway to human rights’
Political activists call Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak a hypocrite for changing his stand far too often to please the crowd before him.
PETALING JAYA: No religion on Earth is against human rights and Islam gives a lot of emphasis to civil liberties, political activist Hishamuddin Rais said today.
“Three quarters of the al-Quran touches about people’s welfare and helping the poor,” he said, commenting on Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s statement on Tuesday that ‘human rightism’ was fast appearing to become a threat to Islam.
Najib, who is also Umno president, said this opening the National Quran Recital Competition.
He also said human rights movements were centralised on the principles of human.....
