There are remarkable scenes in Athens right now, as farmers protesting against pension cuts and austerity measures clash with riot police.
After weeks of protests, which closed motorways, the farmers have decamped to the Greek capital for a mass rally.
More than 300 famers have made the trip from Crete, to urge Alexis Tsipras’s government not to impose reforms to social security system.
Japanese market suffers biggest weekly fall since 2008
Over in Tokyo, traders are catching their breath after riding out the worst week in over seven years.
Today’s 4.8% plunge means that the Nikkei has shed 11.1% this week, the biggest weekly drop since October, 2008.
Recession fears stalked the markets.

Gravitational waves announcement: Scientists confirm detection of ripples in spacetime
Gravitational ripples in the fabric of spacetime, first predicted by Albert Einstein 100 years ago, have now been detected by scientists who believe the discovery opens new vistas into the “dark” side of the Universe.
Physicists around the world confirmed they had detected unambiguous signals of gravitational waves emanating from the collision of two massive black holes 1.3 billion light years away in deep space.
As the two black holes spiralled together in a violent collision that was over in 20 thousandths of a second, immense amounts of matter - equivalent to the mass of three suns - were instantly converted into energy.
This sent shock waves travelling through space for 1.3 billion years until they were picked up by gravitational-wave instruments on Earth on 14 September last year.

Selepas Azmi, NGO tuntut semua dakwaan Akta Hasutan digugurkan
Selepas dakwaan mengikut Akta Hasutan 1948 ke atas pensyarah undang-undang Prof Madya Dr Azmi Sharom dibatalkan hari ini, Gerakan Hapus Akta Hasutan (GHAH) menggesa peguam negara menggugurkan semua pertuduhan berkaitan akta tersebut.
Selain itu, ia juga mengulangi tuntutan mereka selama ini supaya akta itu dimansuhkan, kata Penyelaras GHAH Amir Abdul Hadi.
"GHAH juga berharap agar semua tuduhan hasutan lain turut dikaji semula serta digugurkan sama sekali.
