I HELP UMNO WITH GIFT OF MUSIC ,SAYS DJ DAVE – the star
EVERGREEN crooner DJ Dave, an Umno member for years, said he joined the party not to be a politician but simply because he loves the party.
“I reach out to the people through my songs. That is how I contribute best to Umno,” said the singer, who is also known as Irwan Syah Abdullah.
Admitting he may not be the “winnable” candidate the leadership is looking for, he added: “I prefer to work behind the scene.”
The youthful-looking 63-year-old, known for his 70s hits like Maafkanlah and Menjelang Hari Raya, was a big hit with delegates and visitors to the Umno general assembly and was stopped by many Wanita members who wanted to take photographs with him.
A familiar face in many election campaigns, DJ Dave said he was confident Umno and Barisan Nasional would emerge a stronger force at the next general election.
He urged young Malaysians to put their trust in the party to bring changes to the country.
“Umno has weathered many storms and it has always delivered,” he said, calling on party members to stay united in the face of the opposition onslaught.
