PAK WAN
Bila aku tengok gambar ini, hati aku menggelegak dan sedih pada masa yang sama. Insan di dalam gambar ini namanya Ezzuandi Ngadi, atau lebih mesra dalam kalangan teman sebagai Pak Wan. Dia seorang sahabat, seorang teman, seorang ketua koordinator Dapur Jalanan yang banyak membimbing aku dalam kerja bakti memberi makanan kepada warga miskin kota setiap hari Ahad, seorang mentor dalam tunjuk ajar pelbagai perkara.
Selama aku mengenalnya, beliau seorang yang berpelaku lembut, seorang insan yang sukar nak marah, seorang yang penyabar. Kemudian, pada demonstrasi semalam, beliau telah ditangkap dan dibawa ke lokap Jinjang. Ya Tuhanku, apalah salahnya sehinga ditangkap?
Negara kita sedang menuju kehancuran. Celaka lah Najib, Rosmah serta kroninya2. Dan tambah lagi celaka orang yang masih setia menyokongnya. Malaysia perlukan perubahan. Kepada teman-teman dan rakan-rakan yang lain yang turut ditangkap seperti Adam Adli, Hadi Khalid, Amirx Abd Hadi, Azen Harriths, Muhammad Aiman Hakim , Md Ashraf , Sidiqin Omar , Mandeep Singh dan lain-lain, semoga kalian baik-baik sahaja di sana. Salut buat semua! Perjuangan ini akan tetap diteruskan sehingga kehancuran UMNO, Najib dan Rosmah, politikus yang menekan dan korup, dan seterusnya menjadikan Malaysia yang lebih baik.
Protesters Call on Malaysian Prime Minister to Resign
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—Police arrested more than two dozen people at a largely peaceful protest here on Saturday that called on Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak to resign amid investigations into the troubled state investment fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
The rallytook place as Mr. Najib tries to contain fallout from probes, including by the police and the Malaysian central bank, into activities of 1MDB, which amassed more than $11 billion in debt.
Protesters were seen carrying placards calling for the arrest of Mr. Najib, who chairs 1MDB’s advisory board.
Asked about the protesters’ demands that Mr. Najib resign and be arrested, a spokesman for the prime minister said in an email that Mr. Najib has “made multiple comments that are a matter of public record which answer such demands.”
Mr. Najib has denied wrongdoing in relation to 1MDB and has urged critics to wait for the conclusion of four official investigations that are continuing into 1MDB’s activities.
On July 2, The Wall Street Journal reported that investigators believe nearly $700 million was deposited in Mr. Najib’s personal bank accounts after the movement of cash among agencies, banks and companies linked to 1MDB.
The original source of the money is unclear and the government investigation doesn’t detail what happened to the money that allegedly went into Mr. Najib’s personal accounts.
Mr. Najib denies taking any money for personal gain.
The protesters had been warned ahead of time not to hold the rally. Protests are uncommon in Malaysia.
Led by student activist group Demi Malaysia, the rally had been earlier banned by authorities. Police estimated that about 200 protesters turned out, resulting in 29 arrests. The detainees are being investigatedfor illegal assembly and, if convicted, could face up to six months jail, a fine, or both, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Tajuddin Isa said in a statement.
Those arrested are also being investigated for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy, an offense upon conviction that carries jail sentence of up to 20 years, he said.
“Those arrested will be brought to court to be remanded to facilitate investigation,” Mr. Tajuddin added. The statement didn’t identify those arrested and it wasn’t possible to know whether they had engaged lawyers.
