Ministry says no party thus far has requested Interpol's assistance in locating them.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry has been unsuccessful in locating those needed to facilitate investigations into the troubled 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
In a written reply in Parliament today, the ministry stated that the International Police (Interpol) had been unable to locate or determine the whereabouts of the individuals linked to 1MDB and who investigators want to question in relation to allegations of widespread corruption.
The individuals concerned are business tycoon Jho Low, and 1MDB’s former senior executives Casey Tang Keng Chee and Jasmine Loo Ai Swan. Others include SRC International managing director Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, and Deutsche Bank country manager Yusof Annuar Yaacob.
“An Interpol unit attached to the Royal Malaysian Police is unable to locate and determine where these individuals are at this moment considering the fact that no police investigation is currently being carried out on them, nor has there been any request made by any party seeking Interpol’s assistance in locating them,” said the statement.
