LANGKAWI 25 Okt. - Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad berkata, penjawat awam harus menguasai bahasa Inggeris dengan berkesan supaya mereka dapat membantu memakmurkan negara di samping menguasai bidang tertentu terutama sains dan teknologi.
Bekas Perdana Menteri itu berkata, bahasa Inggeris merupakan satu bahasa yang cukup penting kepada penjawat awam dan swasta yang mahu mendapatkan ilmu dalam dunia berteraskan teknologi maklumat (IT).

Teringat saya cerita masa kursus di intan satu masa dahulu,di kafeteria saya terdengar dua pegawai ptd baru bercakap,i waiting,waiting you no coming if you no coming you telling la kah kah kah pecah perut mendengar bakal do,dato bandar dan duta bercakap.

as much i dislike the fella,what Mahathir said is true.government servant must know how to communicate well in English.it helps alot when dealing with foreigners or people who speaks English in their daily life.
the problem with many govt servants(which majority of them are Malays) is that they dont know how to converse in English.they think they're not capable when infact they can.it's the matter of believing in yourself that you can.self-confidence is the key.
